A Digital Dash for Your Haltech ECU, the RDM-7
Running a Haltech Elite or Nexus? The RDM-7 is a 7-inch CAN digital dashboard with a built-in Haltech preset. Pick Haltech in the setup wizard and the channels come up named and scaled, read straight off the bus. No tuning software, no licence, no subscription.
Which cable you need
Haltech runs Deutsch DTM-4 natively on its CAN ports, and DTM-4 is the same connector the RDM-7 uses. That makes this the simplest install of any ECU we support. You have two ways to do it.
- Buy the RDM-7 ECU Adaptor, Haltech fitment, $49. Terminated for Haltech at one end, DTM-4 at the other. It joins onto the 2 m lead that comes in the RDM-7 box. Nothing to terminate and nothing else to buy.
- Or use what is already in the box. The RDM-7 ships with a 30 cm RDM plug to DTM-4 adaptor and a 2 m lead with DTM-4 at one end and bare CAN, power and ground at the other. If you are happy terminating the ECU end yourself, you do not need to buy anything at all.
One thing worth being clear about: the adaptor does not replace the harness in the box. It joins onto it. You need both.
What the install takes
Four wires at the dash end: 12 V switched ignition, chassis ground, CAN High, CAN Low. Fuse the 12 V feed at 2 A. The plug is an eight-way push-in terminal block with release tabs, so there is no crimping — strip the wire, push it in, done.
The DTM-4 carries all four on one connector, pin 1 through pin 4, so power and CAN arrive together. The dash works out the CAN bitrate in the first-run wizard and stores it. From key-on, about five seconds to numbers moving.
What you get
800 × 480 IPS touchscreen, around 50 fps, under 20 ms from the bus to the screen. Up to 128 CAN channels, DBC import, transmit and receive. Onboard logging to microSD at 1 to 200 Hz in plain CSV — bring your own card up to 32 GB, none is supplied. Thirteen widget types and as many layout presets as your card holds.
The layout editor is served by the dash itself over Wi-Fi, so you build your screen in a browser tab on your phone with no cable and no laptop. A desktop version runs on Windows, macOS and Linux with no hardware connected at all, so your whole layout can be ready before the dash arrives.

Display, logging and CAN transmit only. The RDM-7 reads, displays, logs and transmits. It does not tune your ECU.
