Works with

Tell the dash what is on your bus and it reads it. The common ECUs have a preset built in. Everything else falls back to standard OBD2, or you bring a DBC file. A dedicated preset reads more and reads it faster, which is why we keep building them.

Three ways onto the bus

Every path gets numbers on the screen. They are not equal, and we would rather you knew that before you order than after.

  1. Pick your ECU from a list. You get every channel the preset knows, named and scaled, read straight off the bus at bus rate. You give up nothing. This is the path we build towards.
  2. Most cars since about 2008. You get the standard OBD2 set your car answers to, on a stock ECU with no preset at all. You give up channels and speed, because the dash has to ask for each value instead of listening.
  3. Bring the map yourself. Import a DBC file in RDM Studio, or define channels by hand. You get anything on the bus. You give up your time, because you are the one who knows the message IDs and we cannot check them for you.

What has a built-in preset today

  • Haltech Elite. Built-in preset. The RDM ECU Adaptor has a Haltech variant in stock.
  • Haltech Nexus. Built-in preset.
  • Link G4X. Built-in preset. No RDM adaptor loom yet; Link's own CAN cables connect it to the lead in the box.
  • Link G4+. Built-in preset. No RDM adaptor loom yet; Link's own CAN cables connect it to the lead in the box.
  • MaxxECU. Built-in preset. Model coverage is not broken out in our records.
  • MegaSquirt MS3-Pro. Built-in preset.
  • ECU Master Black. Built-in preset.
  • ECU Master Classic. Built-in preset.
  • Ford Falcon BA, BF and FG. Factory bus preset. FG-X is deliberately not claimed. No RDM adaptor loom exists yet, so the dash is supported and the loom is not.
  • Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S, 2012 to 2020. Factory bus preset. The RDM ECU Adaptor has a variant for it. Fitment across all three cars and the full year range is not bench confirmed.

Everything else

Standard OBD2. Works out of the box on most cars built since roughly 2008, through the OBD2 port. Fewer channels and slower than a dedicated preset, but nobody gets a dead end. The RDM ECU Adaptor has an OBD2 variant.

Anything else. Import a DBC file, or build channels by hand. Both are in the firmware already. This is the last resort that means no customer is turned away.

Do not see your car?

Tell us the ECU, the year and what is on the bus, and we will queue a profile. New presets go out as firmware and reach every owner over Wi-Fi at no cost. No laptop, no dealer, no charge.
