A Digital Dash for Your MaxxECU, the RDM-7
Running a MaxxECU? The RDM-7 is a 7-inch CAN digital dashboard with a built-in MaxxECU preset. Pick MaxxECU in the setup wizard and the channels come up named and scaled, read straight off the bus. No tuning software, no licence, no subscription.
Which cable you need
There is no RDM adaptor loom for MaxxECU, and we do not hold the CAN connector detail for every MaxxECU model on record — so rather than guess at yours, here is what the dash actually needs. It is the same on every ECU: four connections.
- 12 V switched ignition
- Chassis ground
- CAN High
- CAN Low
Everything needed to make them is already in the RDM-7 box: a 30 cm RDM plug to DTM-4 adaptor, and a 2 m lead with DTM-4 at one end and bare CAN, power and ground at the other. You terminate the bare end to suit your MaxxECU's CAN connector.

What the install takes
Four wires at the dash end: 12 V switched ignition, chassis ground, CAN High, CAN Low. Fuse the 12 V feed at 2 A. The plug is an eight-way push-in terminal block with release tabs, so there is no crimping — strip the wire, push it in, done.
The dash works out the CAN bitrate in the first-run wizard and stores it. From key-on, about five seconds to numbers moving.
Any platform, any CAN bus
From a Lexus swap to a Smart Fourtwo, MaxxECU builds run all sorts of platforms. The RDM-7 reads any CAN bus, works the bitrate out itself, and imports DBC files for anything custom. If a car has no dedicated profile and was built after about 2008, it reads standard OBD2 out of the box.
What you get
800 × 480 IPS touchscreen, around 50 fps, under 20 ms from the bus to the screen. Up to 128 CAN channels, DBC import, transmit and receive. Onboard logging to microSD at 1 to 200 Hz in plain CSV — bring your own card up to 32 GB, none is supplied. Thirteen widget types and as many layout presets as your card holds.
The layout editor is served by the dash itself over Wi-Fi, so you build your screen in a browser tab on your phone with no cable and no laptop. A desktop version runs on Windows, macOS and Linux with no hardware connected at all, so your whole layout can be ready while the dash is still in its box.
