A Digital Dash for Your Link G4X, the RDM-7

Running a Link G4X? The RDM-7 is a 7-inch CAN digital dashboard with a built-in Link G4X preset. Pick Link in the setup wizard and the channels come up named and scaled, read straight off the bus. No tuning software, no licence, no subscription.

Which cable you need, and it depends on your ECU

There is no RDM adaptor loom for Link. Link make their own CAN cables, we stock them, and the right one is decided by whether your ECU is a plug-in or a wire-in.

  • Plug-in with the 4-pin powered CAN connector — the newer G4X plug-ins. You want the CANJST4. It carries a protected 12 V supply as well as CAN, which is how Link intend a dash to be powered from it.
  • Plug-in with the 5-pin CAN connector — the earlier G4+ and G4X plug-ins. You want the CANJST.
  • Wire-in with the 6-pin round connector on the front panel — Xtreme and Fury, on CAN1. You want the CANLTW.
  • Wire-in taking CAN off the ECU header — Atom and Monsoon on CAN1, Storm, Xtreme and Fury on CAN2. You want the CANSS.

All four are 300 mm and terminate in Deutsch DTM-4, so they join straight onto the 2 m lead that comes in the RDM-7 box. If the ECU and the dash sit further apart than that reaches, the CANEXT adds two metres. If you want a CAN Lambda or another device on the same bus, the CANTEE splits it.

What the install takes

Four wires you terminate at the dash end: 12 V switched ignition, chassis ground, CAN High, CAN Low. Fuse the 12 V feed at 2 A. The plug is an eight-way push-in terminal block with release tabs, so there is no crimping — strip the wire, push it in, done.

Link's CAN cables carry 12 V and ground alongside CAN High and CAN Low on the same DTM-4, pin 1 through pin 4.

What you get

800x480 IPS touchscreen, around 50 fps, under 20 ms from the bus to the screen. Up to 128 CAN channels. Onboard logging to microSD at 1 to 200 Hz in plain CSV. Thirteen widget types and as many layout presets as your card holds. The layout editor is served by the dash itself over Wi-Fi, so you build your screen in a browser tab on your phone with no cable and no laptop.

Display, logging and CAN transmit only. The RDM-7 reads, displays, logs and transmits. It does not tune your ECU.
